Male members (and their male guests) are invited to attend the Society’s 2012 Annual Men’s Dinner. The enclosed invitation covers all of the particulars for the evening.
We are extremely privileged to have as our Guest of Honour, David Crombie, Vice-President Australian Rugby Union. Mr David Crombie has more than 30 years’ commercial and representational experience in agriculture. He is Managing Director of major agricultural development and pastoral companies, GRM and Queensland Northern Territory Pastoral Company. He is also currently the Chairman of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, a Director of GRM and Rosewood (NT Beef) Pty Ltd, Deputy Chairman of FKP (a listed development company) and the President of Queensland Rugby Union. Mr Crombie also has experience on the boards of various industry organisations. In addition, he operates family properties, breeds cattle and grows crops in southern Queensland. He served on the Board of Grainco Australia and subsequently the Boards of the Meat Industry Council and Meat and Livestock Australia where he was Chairman from 1998 to 2005. He was Chairman of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, he served on the Board of EFIC and is immediate past President of the National Farmers Federation. Mr Crombie currently holds positions as- Commissioner ACIAR, Director GRM International, Director Foodbank Queensland, Vice - President, Australian Rugby Union. We look forward to an enthralling and insightful speech.
The dinner will include piping, singing, and a few words. The usual farin’ of broth, haggis, stirkie, wee bannocks, as well as refreshments will be served. Tables are for 10 gentlemen so perhaps you would like to make up a party of 10. Dress: Black tie or Kilt with miniatures. Members are invited to present to our Patron, President and Guest of Honour their sons and/or their male relatives or friends as younger Clansmen. Pipers attending the dinner are invited to bring along their pipes for the "Pipers' Parade".
As proceeds from the Dinner are going into the Society’s Bursaries, we are also encouraging corporate involvement. Whilst numerous organisations have for many years supported the Society by taking a table or even two, for the first time we are offering to formally recognise this support. For a small premium of $200 per table, on top of the normal seat subscriptions, we offer organisations or even clans to be recognised on the night.
This is your Society’s 65th Anniversary Men’s Dinner and it promises to be an outstanding evening.
As in past years, financial members will continue to receive a discount on the evening. To ensure you receive your discount, please be sure to renew for 2012-2013 (renewal notices were posted recently). Additionally, if you have new members you would like to propose, please use the Membership Form. Our final Council meeting prior to the Dinner to consider new memberships is 6 November 2012.
