A new species of Commersonia has been named Commersonia pearnii to honour a member of The Society of St Andrew of Scotland (Queensland).
Named in honour of Major-General Professor John H. Pearn, AM, RFD, KStJ, former Surgeon General of the Australian Defence Forces and Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Queensland, doctor, educator, humanitarian and author of medical and botanical works.
The Board of Governors and the Executive of The Society of St Andrew of Scotland (Queensland) congratulate John on being so honoured.
